Technology and Teaching

 When I read the assignment about creating my own website I was nervous. I thought that it was going to be extremely difficult but when it got down to it, it was fairly easy. Weebly is a great resource for anyone to create a free website. It is simple with it's applications and design tools. I think that having a class website would be something that I am interested in using in the future. It would be an all-in-one place tool for students and parents to stay up to date. Here is my website.


I have learned a good bit from Diigo. I learned how to bookmark and annotate articles. This would be a good place to store information if you are writing a paper or doing a group project. I could use this tool to get an idea of how well my students understand proper annotation. I could also use Diigo as a personal tool to plan lessons with or store lesson plan information all in one place.


It is very important for teachers to be aware of the latest technological advancements. It is important so that they can use the new resources in the classroom. This would help students have new ways of learning and further understanding. Here is a website about the latest educational tech trends from 2020-2021. This would be a good website for educators to use to stay updated on educational technology. The website lists educational tech and a brief description and how they could be used. They also talk about the importance of the new technology.

    Hey! I too was nervous about making a website but thought that using Weebly made it pretty easy, and I actually ended up really liking the assignment.

The Importance of the Internet

 Looking at the standard LAFS.910.L.3.4, I feel prepared to teach it based on my current skill set. This standard basically says that a students needs to learn how to use context clues to find out a rough meaning of the word. Then the student should learn how to conjugate the word and use it in multiple scenarios. Then the student should learn how to look up the word in a dictionary or thesaurus. Then the student should learn how to verify their original guess of the meaning of the word against the dictionary or thesaurus. The reason why I feel that I could teach this is because I use these skills almost every day. When I don't know what a word means I use context clues and guess and then look it up in the online dictionary.  I feel this is a useful skill and I would be passionate about teaching it. EME2040 and OER's

 I am in an asynchronous EME2040 class. When I registered for this class, I didn't know what to expect, I honestly thought I was going to learn about projectors and smart boards because those were the only things I could think of when it came to educational technology. I have learned way more than projectors and smart boards, I've learned how to create a website, use social media for educational purposes and so much more. I like that I can schedule when I work on assignments because I'm in an asynchronous class instead of in-person or flex. When I am a teacher I plan on making my classroom an enjoyable experience by interacting with students and really getting to know them. This would make students feel welcome in my class and open to participation.  I have just recently learned about Open Educational Resources or OER's. What I've learned and how I'll keep learning

 Assignment five was a challenge to me at first. When I was looking at the requirements for a high pass I didn't know how I would get more than 20 slides in my PowerPoint. When I got started, I quickly found out that getting more than 20 slides would be a breeze. I learned how to make a jeopardy style game on PowerPoint. This will come in handy when I do class reviews while I am a teacher. I've attached a screenshot of my PowerPoint. I think that I will use surveys in my class as a first day get to know you game. This would be used by making a QR code that students could scan with their phone and take the survey. I would ask questions about what types of texts that they like to read and what they like to write about. This would be an easy way to understand what I could teach in my class to appeal to my students.
