Technology and Teaching

When I read the assignment about creating my own website I was nervous. I thought that it was going to be extremely difficult but when it got down to it, it was fairly easy. Weebly is a great resource for anyone to create a free website. It is simple with it's applications and design tools. I think that having a class website would be something that I am interested in using in the future. It would be an all-in-one place tool for students and parents to stay up to date. Here is my website . I have learned a good bit from Diigo. I learned how to bookmark and annotate articles. This would be a good place to store information if you are writing a paper or doing a group project. I could use this tool to get an idea of how well my students understand proper annotation. I could also use Diigo as a personal tool to plan lessons with or store lesson plan information all in one place. It is very important for teachers to be aware of the latest technological advancements. It is important so ...

Websites in Education

I took a look at Mrs. Schultz's class website. On this site, she had a class calendar, an "about me" page, and a welcome video. I think that a welcome video is a great idea. In this video, she introduced herself and told students how their first day would go. I will also use Kahoot as a simple assessment of students' understanding of key concepts. I also see myself using PowerPoint as a tool when teaching certain lessons. I really love PowerPoint when teaching, it is an easy way to have all of the material you need for your lesson in one spot. Pow...

Web Tools

My initial experience with Diggo was an introductory experience. I had never heard of Diggo before this class and I was curious. I think that Diggo is a great tool to use for group projects because you can bookmark pages that you have used as sources. When I bookmarked my article to the class Diggo, it was very simple and I had no trouble. I like how you can join multiple groups and can also have your own page. I enjoy blogging. I have never had to blog before and this was a nice introductory experience. I thought that it would be difficult to get the hang of things but Blogger is a very simple program. I like that you can customize your page and make it your own with personal decorations. I also like how easy it is to connect with other people's blogs. I feel that if I were to get seriously into blogging it would be fun to join a group of English teachers and see what they are teaching and how. One Web 2.0 tool that I have discovered is FirstClass. FirstClass is an online collabo...
